Pardon Me; My Skepticism Is Showing/86 Days And I Am Still Counting

Eighty-six days of gushing oil into the Gulf of Mexico was finally stopped July the 15th.

Now, less than two weeks later, the officials and the scientists are saying the “natural bacteria” and “evaporation” is the reason we cannot “see” any “visible oil on the surface” of the water.

The issue everyone has skirted along atop the water is this: Petroleum Products Are Known Carcinogenics. It will take decaes before the true effects of this "Accident" is fully known. Where will BP Oil be then?

Pardon me boys is this the We-got-cha-choochoo?

Oil and water do not mix...it will float and it will ball up together but disappear? Has anyone forgotten Tropical Storm Bonnie? It made its way into the Gulf and pushed the waters inland…to hide; did it not?

Most of the marshlands of the Louisiana Bayous are visible only from the edge of the gulf and the mouth of the Mississippi River. Although BP Oil has managed to make man made inroads over the years into the marshes (which causes the marshlands to collapse) it is still a dense area and difficult to test as far as the penetration of oil is concerned. Add to that, as seen on the Today Show, many of the people living inland in those marshes survive because of the marshes. Marshes that may well be contaminated with oil for years to come.

Just saying that we cannot see the sheen of oil on the surface of the water or visible tar balls on the beaches does not mean that those millions of gallons of oil were eaten naturally by bacteria or evaporated into the atmosphere.

What a nice fairy tale that would be if it were true.

Birds are still being found dead and there are still huge oil globs washed up as far East as Dauphin Island in Mobile, Alabama. Those beaches are plainly visible to anyone who walks on them as is Gulf Shores yet the New York Times made no mention of what was being found in Mobile Bay or along Pensacola beaches, though to give them credit they did show a tiny picture of a “tar ball” on Dauphin Island…lets have the Blue Angels do a fly by there and see what they find.

As a southerner by birth, I can hazard a guess. They will find Gulf Shore residents and the Navy families still silently walking the beaches with black plastic garbage bags and rakes trying to clean their beloved beaches of the tar and praying the wildlife in the bayous and the bays will escape the waters of the Gulf until we, the humans responsible for them, clean up our act.

Are we responsible for our own actions?

BP Oil, are you responsible for your own actions or will sending Tony to Russia be the end of what you plan on doing?

Shall we look forward to another “accident” after another twenty years… on the other side of the globe?

Is Stir Fry the Equivalent of Walking on Hot Coals?

Stir fry and I have had a love hate relationship for many years. I love my wok, don't get me wrong, it gets a lot of use but mostly for fried chicken or country fried steak rather than stir fry. But on finding "Create" on PBS I also found "Simply Ming" and he is slowly, very slowly taking away my fear of stir fry away. An added ah ha is you can find his recipes easily on facebook and on twitter!

Today Simly Ming had his parents on showing a recipe taken n one shot that took less than 5 minutes! Using very hot ddep fryer with peanut and vegetable oil Senior Ming blanched whole large prawns (or shrimp) until golden brown, while Mrs Ming was stir frying red oinons cut i thin strips and garlic chives cut into two inch strips in oil. Senir Ming added the prawns to the onion misture then did the rice noodles in an instant in the same deep fryer as the shrimp, turned it onto a plate and the last step was a spicy sauce made with peppers and onions and soy sauce stirred into the prawn stir fry. When it was thoroughly hot, less than a minute, Chef Ming gave it a big toss and poured it over the rice noodles. Looked delicious and Mrs Ming declared it a &29.99 dish!

So What Now?

Something Chef Ming struck home today with his show and that is that everything on the show can be used with different ingredients. He did one chicken dish in just a little bit of a time with celery and carrots and raw peanuts, a soy based thick stir fry sauce that I would probably turn down the heat a bit! He loves the sicy food. But it went together quickly and looked delicious and had chicken as its base. The only thing new was he coated the cut up chicken first with egg whites and cooked then until the egg whites were "dry" and the chicken cooked through and through. He always did the meat first, no surprise there, but the fact that he added the sauce at the last and heated it just enough to heat the sauce impressed me. Most stir fry recipes have you add the sauce as a coating then all I taste is soy sauce cooked pieces of "stuff" instead of what it tastes like in an oriental restaurant.

Ready to Brave Stir Fry Again?

It wasn't until the segment in Beijing that I really "GOT IT" and here is what I saw. The hottest wok I've ever seen, Chef Ming said 1200 BTU's! Chicken coatedd in the egg whites then just raw peanuts and finally the really spicy pepper and nion soy sauce concoction and that was it; with just rice on the side. Even Chef Ming needed a big swallow of beer after tasting a peper from that dish!

But it was its fast preparation and the simplicity that drove it home to me. Finally I knew what I have been doing wrong

Cooking at too low a temperature

Not stirring and flipping enough

Not coating the meat with egg whites to seal in the flavor

Using too many ingredients and adding them too fast

Cooking vegetables first instead of the meat.

There. Now I am ready to try stir fry sweet and sour one more time or perhaps I will check out Simply Ming on facebook or twitter and see if I can find a goodie for tonight and impress my beloved with my newfound stir fry abilities!

Now What Will Bus Riders Do?

The monsoons came and cooled down my desert home for quite a few days and nights. That makes waiting on a bus a pleasure, cool desert breeze, low humidity, clouds rolling in promising a late afternoon or evening shower. One can let one’s mind wander and the half an hour maximum of wait time for a bus is gone before you know it.

You get on, the bus driver takes your fare with a smile and a "Need a transfer?" and off you go across town. The bus in a large city is a big assistance to everyone and in times of financial crisis or if families only own one vehicle, it becomes their lifeline to the rest of the community.

There was not much a warning that the buses were going to strike. Apparently, the unions were negotiating and the drivers may have known something but the first the residents of Tucson heard of a possible strike was on Saturday July 31, 2010. Then on Monday 2 August, there were only six or seven of the bus lines running and only from six in the morning to seven o'clock at night! If you get out of class at ten PM or if you are working in a restaurant until nearly midnight how do you get back home?
August 2011 update: not sure if this summer is better than when the season of strike was here...now the public transportatio prices have gone up considerably. A monthly bus pass that was $32.00/month is now $42.00/month. The all day pass went from $3.50 to $4.75. One way ticket is now $1.50 instead of $1.25 and no word yet on whether a transfer will now cost money;it was free once the one way ticket was paid.

What Else About Our Oceans and Beaches Should We Discuss?

Forget the oil spill...this is important

Whether it is an attempt to get us to look the other way from the Gulf of Mexico or whether it really is time for the National Resources Defense Council’s report on our water here is the news. It is not the known carcinogenic that we have poured into our water that will destroy marine life and make us sick. Aren’t you relieved? We no longer have to worry that the government will not take up its responsibility and force the big oil corporations to take up their responsibility!

It is our own entire fault! Yes, we are the one who needs to put the blue stuff in our public waters, rivers, lakes and oceans, as it is our own human fecal matter that is ending up in our water! If we used the same chemical that public pools use we could target these people who are using our public waters as bathrooms and make them fess up!

That is correct people, not the oil spill, which is not our largest concern. It is stopped after all…all those millions of gallons of oil are gone see you can’t see it is gone people lighten up and let poor BP Oil get on with their cash excuse me I did mean to say get on with their life!

It is our entire fault and it is not just paper, plastic, trash but human and animal waste people! All of you with your pooper-scoopers forget it you are not working hard enough obviously and all you young parents teaching junior to go potty stop doing it off the end of your pier! It is our entire fault! Soon the government will come up with a way to target us and then the large corporations like the sewer system can forget about being responsible.

It obviously is not their concern after all, it is our entire fault.

Nursing Professionalism

When I hear the word “professional the picture it brings to my mind’s eye is:

A man thirty years my senior, five foot four, piercing hazel eyes, thin lips, furrowed brow, straight back, three piece suit without a wrinkle and a perfectly executed tie with a small, classic, tie pin. Shiny brown laced shoes; right hand in pant pocket jingling coins gently is the only outward sign of less than perfectly calm nerves. I am walking down a long row of desks three deep on either side and into my Fathers glassed front office at Office Park, Commercial Union Insurance Group. Daddy would be standing there, L&M cigarette in hand, glaring at all his “young men” (underwriters) and as I am walking down the row I hear the whispers…”That’s Caesars daughter…” echoing behind me.

Now, do not get me wrong, he was not really a Caesar, he never raised his voice, and he never barked orders or pointed his fingers. He would just ask one time, then he told the second time and on the third telling that was it, if not followed, that person would no longer have a job. He was fair but he was strict. He did not turn his back and look the other way if there were problems, he saw them, and he expected the problems resolved immediately. That sounds harsh? That sounds dictatorial? But he had his job to do as well as making sure the underwriters did their jobs. If not, then my Dad was held responsible. A professional leads by example. My Dad never asked his workers to do something he was not able to do and he expected it to be done. if it wasn’t, then that person was asked to leave.

The meaning of professional is not only a set of values, a code of ethics, a standard of care but it is a desire to act and live and BE all that professional implies at all times. It is not a uniform that comes on and off depending on the work schedule. It is not a fake smile plastered on in front of strangers, would be clients or state surveyors. It is a selfless desire to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It is just the gut wrenching NEED to help. Being professional carries with it a huge responsibility to be responsible for your own actions, to follow through, to take on only as much as you can complete but also to work a team with every part of your heart and soul. Being responsible is not about the money, it is not about accolades or public reward. It is a lifelong commitment to serve, to learn, to instruct, to protect. One quote I found while researching for this questionnaire is as follows:

"A professional is someone who has practised and studied so much, that he/she can be relied upon to do the right thing and say the right thing, automatically, confidently and spontaneously, while under the pressure of the moment and do it without conscious forethought or effort."
In an effort to be as professional as I aspire to be I would have to rate my own professionalism as a “work in progress”. I must admit that although I have always wanted and have always tried to be the best nurse I can be, I know that I have not increased my professionalism nor have I been a credit to my profession my whole career. It was not until I attempted and achieved my certification that the word even seemed to fit the image I had of myself. Once I was in graduate school the words and images of being a professional nurse finally began to cement itself into my consciousness and I returned to the reason I went into nursing in the first place, which was to help. I believe that being a professional means putting someone else’s needs above your own, that what you do is done for the good of someone else, not to make yourself look good or to act better than anyone else.

I want to be an example, I want to be in control, I want to be able to direct and work well under pressure. However, if I attempt too many tasks at one time, if I feel overwhelmed or unable to accomplish all my work in a timely manner then I break. I can do a lot of different things and I am a skilled technician of many different skills, but I cannot maintain a continuous marathon of never ending tasks. I do my best when I have a set of step by step things that must be accomplished and continuously monitored in order to benefit the entire community as a whole.

I know that I am a good nurse,

I know that I am service oriented,

I know that what I do I do out of love for humans who cannot help themselves,

I know that the Higher Power gave me a purpose and nursing is that purpose.

But, I am not ready to “graduate” so to speak. I know I have a lot more to learn and I do love to learn!

Poem About Our Current Mr. President/Oh Hear Ye Hear Ye Citizens and Denizens

Citizens and denizens of these, our United States how far have we come

How far will we go with a state of our Unionn in hands such as this?

Anyone old enough to remember beloved Red Skelton and his Pledge of Allegiance?

He said his teacher taught it to his class when he was in elementary school

There were only forty-eight states

There was a feeling of service oriented

There was a united agreement to care for those less fortunate

Not to give and give and take over their lives but to get them back on their feet

There was a time of spelling bees and chanting of arithmetic heard class to class

All in unison, all together, all correctly and help immediately if one should falter and fall

What is this now the day after St Patrick's Day? On CNN?

Laughter at misspelling?

Approvement of a bookies work on a dry erase board?

Oh citizens LOOK!! It is being done in YOUR oval office!

By OUR Mr. President? NO! SURELY NOT!!!!!!

Betting is betting. Literacy is important. Are we so at peace and quiet in our country

that this is no big deal within our yes OUR oval office?

Mr President is no CEO, no Management that can fire us or take us out back and shoot us (YET)

But Give Him/Her/Them an INCH and I swear to you, all people of America who can spell and count and who know right from wrong

They will have you all complacent, mindless, soulless, hungry and numb.

They are waiting. They think there are no rebels, no insurgents, no hippies, no outraged temperance people left in the WORLD, never mind in THIS country!

"THIS IS OUR COUNTRY LAND THAT WE LOVE"

TAKE IT BACK.

VOTE HIM OUT.

THSESE ARE OUR RIGHTS, OUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUR PLEASURE!

It Is Not Comforting When A Conspiracy Theory is Proved To Be True/Sci Fi Made Real

Anyone who has a love of science fiction and urban fantasy books do not find it difficult to slip into a conspiracy type mentality. The more one reads, after all, the more one sees with the sight inside the soul. And that is not always a happy sight.

Stories, movies, propaganda, fiction, movies all contain just enough truth to keep the ones in charge of that "inflammatory, vile, biased information" from being completely believable. After all, why would anyone or any government want to spend all their time finding out what we are doing or saying in places where surveillance is not allowed? For that matter why has surveillance become suddenly so very popular?

Could it be that we as a world we have become so paranoid of one another that we sit with fingers poised above the button that blows up our house/apartment/warehouse/hideout just because "you made a phone call?"

Chris Matyszczyk is a wonderful journalist and he is able to make his point better than this poor writers’ attempt. This writer becomes too embroiled in the issue to stand back calmly and keep the satire without the anger.

As this writer was following the threads of this research it became clear that people of my generation are the ones who are showing the most concern. The people of a certain generation view it as an infringement upon our freedom, our right to remain anonymous if it pleases us rather than as a convenient method for cartography. One article described Google tricycle on the University of Pennsylvania campus as a wonderful way to learn the walk ways and how best to get from one building to another. Heaven forbid we ask another student o actually buy a map of it ourselves. The younger generation views products such as the Google tricycle as a new techy toy. Is no one concerned about how this "toy" could cause harm?

Once upon a time there was a golden serpent and it protected a group of people from harm. But, once its job was completed, that golden serpent was put out of the reach of the children! Geez, why do you suppose He did that? HMMM...let me think....

It seems to me that we as a world of humans, together, must stand up and say OK this is where the line forms. Set the standards and stop the peeking over the fences trying to "catch" the next scandal of someone or something in higher position of authority.

Another option is if whoever is doing the surveillance wants to "pin" something on someone that badly then perhaps they should run for the government office of their choice themselves. Once they are in a position of authority then let's ask them how they would like their surveillance served...rare or well done?

It's Kind Of Like PBS; I Never Thought About It/I Just Thought It Was Free

I am relatively new to the computer age. It wasn't until I entered graduate school at the age of 50 years that i bought a home PC. Our Poor, deprived kids had to make do on the schools computer systems. Not a bad idea to my way of thinking, that way the sites were better monitored.

In fact, I wrote all the papers for my first semester on an old, borrowed word processor from my Dad and got a funny look from the professor when I asked "What is spell check?" Needless to say, that second semester I had a PC!

It was also durig graduate school that I found the Wikipedia. It was like finding candy stuck to the orange at the very bottom of the stocking on Christmas Day! Such a boon! All this information that is true, reviewed and citable! Not to mention information that is up to date, added to on a regular basis by ordinary writers and lovers of information just like ourselves!

So, this month, while researching for different hubs, I saw this banner at the top of all the Wikipedia articles asking me to "Please Read THis". Turned out it is a yearly request for a small donation to help continue the project co founded by J Wales and L Sanger in March of 2000. Now here we are a decade later and we all use ad lve the Wikipedia for sure and like PBS, it needs our help to keep on growing.

Now that all of that is over and I am through gushing there is also the small matter of notoriety and millions of dollars. Oh yes, Wikipedia and all its wonderful help for us little people is not without it's own private scandals. In fact, it has been cited repeatedly that J Wales has tried to rewrite history and feels he is the one and only founder of Wikipedia.

L Sanger, on the other hand feels that due to the age of "tranparent activity and maximum communication, the truth will out" and indeed, in Wales own Wiki article it appears that many references to the first days of the start up of the project were indeed removed or at the least "forgotten".

Not that this really changes anything as far as the contributions of both Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. There would be a hole in the cyberspace of education without both their collective endeavors as well as the millions of entries by writers who helped collect information, write it, publish it all on the Wikipedia without asking for any credit of their own!

Therefore, without any other argument or attempt to say which is the founder or the co-funder or just the most cited, let's all say Hoorah for BOTH Wales and Sanger and a huge Thank You to their creation of the best encyclopedia of the world!

May we never suffer bouts of sneezes as we open an old tomb of a dusty encyclopedia ever again!

Just As I Was Getting All Excited Thinking Change Was Coming!

Just as I was getting all pleased with myself for having found a message of peace and hope and didactic power in my favourite television series of NCIS and CSI and Criminal Minds; CSI:Miami comes on. Hubby and I don't really watch this one as much as we do the others but we were still awake on a Saturday night/what can I say/us baby boomers get sleepier faster than we used to/and decided to watch the show.

Now as I have mentioned I think these shows are great, they are delivering a didactic tale, they always catch the bad guys and they make us think with some provocative one liners. I had just completed a hub about one of the characters having a moment of enlightenment in the last show on Criminal Minds and of course I had to add my two cents worth.

I had even found a lovely article to go right along with my message of service oriented people and the wonderful things they do and how they deserve all our applause and dedication!

Then here comes the theme song for CSI: Miami!

Talk about my own moment of enlightenment I bout came off my recliner with a whiplash! After a few well chosen metaphors, thank you Mr Spock, my David was laughing at me so he could hardly contain himself. Apparently he thinks the sight of his beloved wife in an uproar is amusing.

I don't get it. Where in the world were their heads? What were they thinking? My David said "Look, Boo, most of the people in this country don't even know who {pun there for all of you} wrote this song much less what the song is about and if you'll notice they only sing the words "won't get fooled again" in the song anyway.

David's take on the whole thing is the fact that the cops are not going to get "fooled again" by the bad guys and they are going to take all of them down.

My take on the whole thing is that of a purist. Know the song, know what you are listening to and use it appropriately. Pete Townsend was using this as a warning here people. That revolution can and will bring about change. But if we are not careful, the regime we overthrow may be exactly like the one with which it is replaced!

Pay attention to the lyrics "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss."

So, how is this a good song for CSI: Miami?

Gives me a headache.

I have the same17 year old mindset I had all those years ago. Inside my head I even look the same and inside my head I still am full of the idealistic views that have often brought me nothing but sour looks and loud words and trouble since the first time I tried them out on my parents in the 1960's!

Yet still...I keep hoping...that we will change for the better...that we will listen and learn from the songs, from the television series, from history, from each other and stop the cycle of just switching one bad boss for another.

Why Use Movie Gallery If Movies Are Free?

Well! This is fun!

OK, I admit it. I am technically challenged and not too bright as far as what is available on the internet. I thought anything that said you could watch movies or old TV shows would-be, like, stealing. You know, like with the music downloads? Thank goodness for adults-in-training aren't you glad you have some too?

Seriously, dude, as baby girl said, “Mom, why did you get that movie?" It’s on hulu already and it's free!" That is what baby girl said when HER Mom came home...not this mom, no, I surely would have heard by NOW about hulu.com! After all, didn't I just write a xombablurb on redbox? That PROVES I am in the know already!

OK I know, I am a sham, I know zilch. I could have been watching fringe already and all the Britain Has Talent I could hold! NO! SAY IT ISN"T SO!

Well, nothing for it now but to sit here, on the couch, eat cookies, drink tea and watch TV shows, documentaries (Oh good I can watch my favorite Sunrise Earth with the fishermen and heir long necked ducks that catch fish for them over and over :) I am so happy!) And every new, old, in between, or obscure movie that I would like! Hey! You GUYS! It’s the Goonies!

And I can become a groupie on their site too, if I would like. I can answer comments, give reviews, see what everybody else likes to watch...baby girl, are you sure this isn't a way for

Big brother to really infiltrate our home and watch our every move? You know, there's a movie like that, with Gene Hackman. He blows up his own building cause that guy made a phone call....maybe I better sit down, I didn't realize I was pacing. There, I feel better now, I am focused. Oh LOOK! The Secret of Nimh!

Let's watch it! What could go wrong with a cute little mouse movie...unless you think that by watching Nimh you will eventually end up taking way too much propofol and calling out incoherently for your friend, Ben?

All right now rnmsn this time you've gone too far!

A Story about reading a story

This is really an article about a book and a movie. This one I did right...saw the movie first. That way I don't go all ballistic on behalf of the author of the book! In this case, A Town Like Alice is actually one of the 200 best known and loved books of all times! I was so glad to find this out as it is one of the few books on World Was Two that I have read. Unless one counts Tolkien and Lewis' works during those times?

A Town like Alice was historical fiction. I was always sure it was based on fact. Fact was the Japanese were not nearly as kind and warm hearted as the book portrayed them to be. Where that came from I do NOT know...the cruelty is there nearly from the stat of the book. The hero, Joe, is actually crucified! The heroine, Jean, is just that, a heroine. Strong and true and frightened but does the best she can. She has her love for Joe, though she lies to him and lets him believe she’s married, but love each other they do, all the same. But it is more of the love she holds for the women of the group, companions that they are, through the horrible walk, the love and comradeship of the women in her group. All over Malaysia. Being marched would be hard enough, being marched by enemies, through places that were sometimes afraid, sometimes crueler than the Japanese. Until finally, they are accepted by one village, though after Joe is crucified. It was here at this one village the women worked alongside other women and finally, were saved, at the end of the war.

To me, it is one of the first books that enlightened me of the struggle for women, not just today, but at all times. We may not wear the shackles. But chained we are. It is though our love for one another and the belief of something greater than ourselves that keeps us going. That keeps us coming back and eventually, brings us to exactly the one place, one person we really need to feel whole. A book that shows no matter how long you go on believing a thing, it can be changed in an instant, in this case for the better when she finds that Joe is alive and living in his beloved Outback.

Remember the Song, "Momma Look What They Done To MY Song?"

Watching The Cars Go By
One day my Teekee and Daddy were talking

Sitting on the porch, watching the cars go by;

My Teekee was remembering all

the changes he had seen in his lifetime.

He spoke with awe and joy for the most part

And encouraged me to continue on with my dreams

My Teekee and Daddy are waiting for me now

I cannot fathom what sights I will see

I will be glad to be reunited with Teekee and Daddy

When it is my turn to return from whence we came

But for now I worry on the changes we've done

in this lifetime; to the world and to each other.

The changes are not awe inspiring or joyful

They fill my heart instead with dread

What has caused this change in hearts of man?

Cannot we all just sit and watch the cars go by?

Maybe then we could learn to love one another again.

This is the last pessimistic article; hopefully.
It is way too easy to get caught up in the naysayers and the doomsday predictions around us today. I find myself drawn to reading the worst headlines, the most frightening views of "what may be" that after awhile it begins to dawn on me that I am "inside" that world. Inside and trapped. For there is no answer, there is only the hope that the world will catch itself before it falls.

Another Hubber on HubPages, whose opinion is worthy, broke this cycle, thank you James, with just a few words "must hold themselves to a higher standard". What the hub was about is not the point here, the point is I had allowed myself to become so embroiled with the negativity of life in general that my "song" had changed. Somewhere along the way I had stopped writing to create joy in my heart and had started to stand on the box in the square, holding the placard "The End Is Near!"

Well, duh. When has it ever NOT been near? We only have today, nothing is promised. If one keeps dwelling on a subject long enough it will come true. Now, I realize this sounds pessimistic but actually it is just common sense.

Eventually I suppose everything one could possibly worry about could come true. However, did the worry in and of itself cause it to manifest? No, of course not. But dude, as humans don't we love to take the credit!

See? I Told You So!

I Warned You All This Time And Now LOOK!

It's Here!

It's Happened!

So thank you fellow Hubber, oh wise James Watkins :) for the comment. You didn't even know you did it either I bet! But you helped me change my on song back to the way want it to be. It would be horrible if the "one thing I could do half right was forever done all wrong." My apologies, Melanie, for the misquote, but you guys catch my drift, don’t you?

Which Electric Car Do You Prefer?

It is difficult to think about buying a new car when the Saturn is paid for and there is not a guarantee a job will last long enough to pay off a new vehicle. Nevertheless, the new alternative powered vehicles are enticing with their sleek lines and quiet engines.

Perhaps the best part of an electric car is the cost of driving one. It is noted that it can cost less than a dollar a day if you live in a large enough city whose electricity comes from "nuclear, natural gas, hydro and even a little wind and sun." Otherwise, the cost of powering the vehicle will increase if your community electricity is more expensive.

Then the cost of the vehicle itself still stays out of most budgets with the least expensive by Nissan starting at $30,000. Nonetheless, at a dollar a day to drive it might pay for itself before you paid for the car compared to paying $2.50 a gallon of gasoline.

Now, if you feel that driving should be fun or do not drive at all then the Tesla Roadster is for you, otherwise if you are looking for a steady, worry free mode of transportation that will get you from point A to point B without problem; then perhaps the Renault or the Nissan BEV styles are your cup of tea!

Check them all out, as they show up at the end of this year, 2010 and the start of 2011! Decide for yourself if you will be holding onto your Camaro or Mustang or if you will upgrade to the futuristic cars and keep your touring car for just that! Touring the country and styling in your Saturn Ion with moon roof, spoiler and five on the floor! Ah, Ha I definitely believe if it is not fun to drive what is the point after all?

So for myself, I will stick with my Saturn as long as possible! It is nice not having another bill every month!

Go Green!

Even if you are not the outdoor, hiking, cycling, swimming or anything besides just sitting and listening this canteen is the way to go! The fact that it is made of stainless steel means it is dishwasher safe, will not break, keeps liquid at same temperature longer than plastic. Those facts alone make it worthy but the clincher for any health care professional is the "safe serve" factor. Stainless steel is easily rid of bacteria.

Plastic is OK, but eventually it gets to where you can taste the plastic, then it gets this coating or opaque quality to the container that is definitly not pleasing to the taste buds. Although plastic is also dishwasher safe, it is not easily rid of bacteria. That is why in the healthcare profession many products are plastic and disposable.

This is the first "green" product I have seen that made me personally go

"Oh dude, good idea!"

Would You Love a Kindle?

Do You Love To Read?

Is the act of reading a love in itself to you? Do you treasure the books you read or do you clear your bookshelves every six months; sending books you've already read to the library? Do you struggle with the actual weight of the tome you are currently reading and wish there were an easier, more portable device you could use?

If the act of reading the book, the smells and the textures of new books or dusty, library books is what you love the most then the Kindle may take some getting used to.

However, if it is the joy of reading, the delight in new technology and the luxury of receiving the next book instantly then this device, the Kindle or the Kindle DX is your cup of tea!

The price is not bad, less than three hundred dollars. the wireless coverage appears best on the East coast and Midwest with the larger cities scattered across the US showing as well in range. The ability to download (wireless feature) is free at this time, you are allowed permanent access to the books you purchase and the Kindle holds over a thousand copies. There is also a feature that allows the kindle to become an audio book although the computer voice is not described nor does it say if it is read/recorded by an author or if it is a computer generated voice.

Still, this new technology is improving and there may well be a generation of young people who will have their favorite bedtime books read to them from a Kindle instead of from the book itself.

Hmmmm....not a bad idea. Was bedtime ritual for your children similar to mine? Kids all ready, chasing through the house complete, teeth finally brushed, compromised on whose turn it was to pick the book then the search to actually find the book in the toy box, under the bed, or heaven forbid where it was supposed to be; on the actual bookshelf?

The Kindle would certainly give Mom and Dad more quality time, eh?

What exactly is Foodista?

Here is the Diversity You Are Seeking

Ever need a mew food tip or recipe and just cannot find what you would like? There is a Facebook site called Foodista that is full of tips, recipes, and additions by Facebook subscribers and fun ideas that just might fit the bill! The commercial for Foodista was posted alongside my own Facebook site; upon clicking on it, I was instantly hooked. It is a fun site with many different ideas and people contributing to the food community.

What Can You Do On Foodista?

If you like, you can add comments, or write your own blog about food and all its components. Foodista honors its contributors with “wine blog of the day” food blog of the day” and other kudos. The site itself is totally diverse from where to find and use brown grocery bags for draining fried foods to the amount of vitamins in iceberg compared to romaine lettuce!

Is It Fun?

There are food facts, tips of the day and national food of the day on this site as well as other information. Sarcasm and humor abound as in “author unknown” who wrote “There is a lot more juice in grapefruit than meets the eye. “

Having found Foodista it seemed other sites were also out there that could add to the recipe box. Many are operated with the brand names of food corporations at the top. Land of Lakes, Nestles, Crisco, Velveeta to name just a few all have sites that feature recipes and how to ideas but none could compare with the diversity and fun offered on Foodista.

The main thing that caught my eye is that today is National Penuche Fudge Day! How can anyone go wrong with a site that raises its flag to fudge?

Check out this site and see if you can add or top some of its wonderful ideas about food, wine, condiments and fun!
